The new Suzuki Bouelvard was previewed on the weekend at the Melbourne Motorcycle Expo. The M90 offers unique styling and will be the highlight of the Boulevard range.
The Boulevard M90 becomes the fifth model in Suzuki's distinctive Boulevard cruiser line-up, with two existing Boulevard models in the Top 10 best-sellers in the category, offering riders the option of a lighter and more manoeuvrable cruiser with a 90 cubic-inch engine offering reduced fuel consumption.
"Suzuki is proud of the results our Boulevard range has achieved, we couldn't be happier with how it's performing," Perry Morison, General Manager, Motorcycles, Suzuki Australia said.
"With the introduction of the Boulevard M90, Suzuki's Boulevard line-up gives cruiser riders the best-possible range of options in terms of engine capacity, styling, performance and value for money.
"The unique fusion of distinctive styling and sportsbike technology has been a hit with Australian riders and the Boulevard M90 is set to continue that.
"It offers the same features which have made the Boulevard line-up so popular, and will give riders plenty of bang for their buck."
Powered by a 1,462cc, long-stroke, four-valves-per-cylinder, V-Twin engine, the Boulevard M90 possesses class-leading torque-to-weight and power-to-weight ratios.
Dual spark plugs in each cylinder help enhance fuel economy and power delivery, and reduce emissions, while each aluminium-alloy cylinder is coated in a nickel-phosphorus-silicon coating to increase heat transfer.
A rubber gasket between the cylinder head and cam cover, and separation of each cylinder's head cam and cam-bearing caps helps minimise mechanical noise.
Upper-compression rings and oil-control piston rings are coated in the hard, smooth chrome-nitride Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD) system, reducing friction.
Suzuki's race-bred Dual Throttle Valve (SDTV) digital fuel injection and advanced engine management system enhances fuel economy and throttle response across its broad powerband, while meeting the latest emission standards.
Improving cold starting and stabilising engine idle under varying conditions, the Boulevard M90 is fitted with an automatic Idle Speed Control (ISC) system.
As used on the famous Hayabusa, a cable-operated back-torque-limiting clutch with Suzuki's Clutch Assist System (SCAS) provides efficient clutch operation and smooth downshifts, requiring less force to pull the lever whilst moving through the five-speed transmission.
Giving the Boulevard M90 a dynamic, throaty V-Twin rumble, dual slash-cut chromed mufflers are fed from equal-length header exhaust pipes.
With a low centre of gravity for easy manoeuvrability, the Boulevard M90 features a high-tensile steel frame and classic hard-tail cruiser look set to stand out in any crowd.
Giving riders agile and predictable handling, inverted, oil-damped 43mm outer-tube front forks offer 130mm of wheel travel.
The rear suspension offers 108mm of wheel travel, with the coil-over 46mm rear shock absorber hidden beneath bodywork.
Developed using technology from Suzuki's sportsbike range, dual floating 290mm front disc brakes with dual-piston calipers and a 275mm rear disc produce impressive braking performance.
Central to the Boulevard M90's bold and unique styling, specifically-developed Bridgestone tyres, including a 200mm-wide rear tyre, are fitted to distinctive alloy wheels.
The Boulevard M90 features drag-style, flat-bend handlebars, a long and well-padded seat, and an 18-litre fuel tank to help riders enjoy long rides in comfort.
The Suzuki's long, chrome-plated side stand has been designed and positioned to make the Boulevard M90 easier to move off its stand when parked.
Sleek, clean and flowing lines are complemented by a sporty front fender, a smooth tail section and chrome components including the handlebars, engine cover and twin muffler pipes.
A tapered, multi-reflector 60/55W halogen headlight with distinctive cover, LED taillight with a fisheye smoked red lens and bullet-shaped turn signals complete the imposing look of the Boulevard M90.
Integrated into the top of the headlight cowl under a chrome cover, the Suzuki's instrumentation features an analogue speedometer, bar-section fuel gauge, LCD panel, and LED indicators, with switches conveniently located on the handlebar.
The brand-new, 2009 Suzuki Boulevard M90 will be available in November in Metallic Blue and Pearl Black liveries and backed by a two-year, unlimited kilometre warranty, with pricing to be announced.
