The famous Dino badge could soon be on the road again.
Fiat has reached an agreement with Lotus Sports Cars to develop its own version of the next generation Lotus Elise due in 2010. The Fiat model, to go on sale the following year, would provide the Italian brand with an affordable yet exciting rear wheel drive roadster.
Whilst the agreement with Lotus has been speculated for many months now, it was previously thought that Fiat would badge the car under the Abarth brand. Now, according to Car magazine, the CEO of Fiat, Lorenzo Sistino is saying “it would be brilliant if we could bring back the Dino badge”.
Fans of the Elise may remember that back in 2000, Lotus did a similar arrangement with Opel/Vauxhall, helping to create the VX220. When launched many motoring journalists even gave it the nod over the than Series 1 Elise.
We’re looking forward to 2011.
