Auto Express has shown images of the next-generation European designed Honda Civic.
When launched, the new Civic will go up against the new Holden Astra and new Ford Focus. Honda expects the new styling cues will have more appeal to the younger generation of drivers (with the coupe variant) as well as its current audience (with a five-door variant).
These styling cues such as the headlight, taillight and body profile design can be noted from the Honda OSM concept on display not so long ago at the British International Motor Show.
No details about the powerplants are released as yet, however expected is a revised 1.5-litre hybrid engine with a power output of about 110kW with only 115g/km of CO2. Also, the 2.0-litre i-VTEC engine will most likely continue to be used for the Type-R with a speculated electric motor coupled with it to improve performance, fuel economy and emission levels.
The new Honda Civic is expected to arrive at dealerships in 2010.
