Renault’s all new Laguna Coupe has just been driven by European journalists ahead of going on sale shortly in Western Europe. Leading UK magazine Autocar were at the global launch and drove the range-topping 3.0L turbo diesel V6 with an impressive 175kW and 450Nm of torque.
Compared to Renault’s previous large coupe, the extremely avant-garde Avantime, the Laguna Coupe is far more conventional, but also far more beautiful.
After driving the Renault Laguna Coupe, Autocar believe the cabin to be stylish and deeply impressive, noting that it matches any of its competitors, i.e. Audi A5, BMW 3-Series Coupe, in both look and feel.
On the open road, they praised the powerful and long-legged powerplant, believing it to be an excellent high-speed cruiser. Of note, is that the Diesel engine is barely audible and it’s only above 5,000rpm that it gets a bit noisy.
They conclude that whilst the Renault Laguna Coupe’s low-speed ride isn’t the best, overall it is a very good car, noting the handsome looks, the quality build and the high levels of equipment.
