Ford Motor Company Australia dropping V8 Supercar teams

Key funding to be removed from a couple of critical Ford V8 Supercar teams. Roland Dane Team Vodafone owner  explains "Sponsors come and go and Ford has chosen to spend there money elsewhere". Team Vodafone has been a key player in the deveopment of the FG racecar and was given the news during the week that sponsorship dollars would be removed in 2009.

“When a sponsor goes, you go about replacing them,” Dane said, “We’ve got fantastic sponsors and we’re always keen to maximize our financial position so now we’re out looking for more.”

Its been reported Dane has been in talks with Toyota and its opportunities to venture foward in the V8 Supercar series. Although there are no plans that have been made public to allow other Manufacturers to enter the series, many people in the industry say its only a matter of time.

Ford Australia has announced they will only sponsor Stone Brothers Racing and Ford Performance Vehicles from 2009.
