Former Wallaby Ben Tune was discharged from hospital in Perth today in good spirits and is looking forward to returning home to Brisbane.
Tune was injured in a single car accident when his car rolled over in the MINI CHALLENGE round at Barbagallo Raceway yesterday (Saturday) afternoon.
He was taken by ambulance to hospital for precautionary examination overnight and underwent other medical tests today before being discharged.
National Manager MINI, Justin Hocevar, today extended his best wishes and those of all the MINI CHALLENGE teams to Ben for a speedy recovery.
Ben was one of two celebrity drivers, along with top female driver Leanne Tander, in the MINI CHALLENGE series round at Barbagallo.
Mr. Hocevar said the “health and safety of all drivers is paramount to us in MINI CHALLENGE.”
“The race is conducted under the safety rules and regulations of CAMS (the Confederation of Australian Motorsport) to which we fully comply.
“We do not like to see any accident, but we are all aware that motor racing is a dangerous sport.
“We are all looking forward to a speedy recovery for Ben.”
