Mitsubishi Puts Sally Leaps and Bounds Ahead of the Olympic Competition - (Australia)
August 14th, 2008
Athletic superstar Sally McLellan is on the road to Olympic glory, and Mitsubishi Motors Australia Limited (MMAL) is behind her all the way with the announcement of an individual sponsorship agreement.
As one of Australia’s toughest athletes and as part of Mitsubishi’s corporate partnership with the Australian Olympic Committee, Sally; along with six other promising athletes; is being personally supported by Mitsubishi.
President and chief executive officer of MMAL, Robert McEniry wants to ensure the Australian team is well-positioned for gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
“At Mitsubishi, we are providing cars to this promising group of young athletes in the lead-up to the games to allow them to focus on fitness and preparation for their respective events. We feel great to be able to provide them with reliable, safe, economic and stylish vehicles to get to training and events necessary to achieve their Olympic goals.”
Sally is a determined competitor. In 2005, she became the first woman to win both the 100 metres and the 100 metres hurdles at the National Championships, a feat she repeated a year later.
Holder of the Australian record for the 100 metres, Sally has been pre-selected for the Australian Olympic team despite a hamstring injury that saw her miss the remainder of the domestic season.
“I’ve always been a competitor and I’ve always gone out onto the track wanting to win. But, if I lose against the best, [I know] I’ve done whatever I can,” she said.
Sally’s determination to master her sport has meant she has had to shed any fear of mistakes or injury.
“I don’t really get scared of what I do, because if you get scared then you can’t be the best, and you can’t go to the Olympics.”
Now, Sally’s drive to reach the Olympics and bring home the gold is stronger than ever, as she drives a Mitsubishi Lancer VRX in anticipation of Beijing. Sally is very pleased with the new Lancer that boasts a great combination of power, style and functionality.
“It’s a huge upgrade to what I’ve got now,” said Sally.
With additional features such as sports tuned suspension, 18” alloy wheels, rear spoiler, voice activated Bluetooth and Smart Key vehicle entry coupled with superior safety features, the Mitsubishi Lancer VRX is the top of the range.
