August 11th, 2008
Each year, the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute (VCCRI) holds a Gala fundraising dinner as a tribute to the life and achievements of the late Dr Victor Chang, one of the pioneers of modern heart transplantation.
Hyundai supported the recent 2008 VCCRI Gala Dinner in a number of ways including donating a new 2009 Sonata CRDi turbo Diesel car and an LA Galaxy jersey signed by David Beckham. Both donations where auctioned at the event to raise funds for the institute.
In the past the Victor Chang Cardiac Research Institute has been supported by a variety of special guests including the late Princess of Wales, The Prime Minister of Australia, The Hon John Howard MP, the late Luciano Pavarotti and Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary of Denmark.
This year, Dancing with the Stars host Sonia Kruger acted as Master of Ceremonies. The night was bolstered by entertainment from Tom Burlinson and the Sydney All Star Big Band and special guest heart disease sufferer, former Olympian and Commonwealth Games swimmer Lisa Curry-Kenny.
“As a company Hyundai is pleased to support the VCCRI Gala Dinner event,” Hyundai’s Director of Sales and Marketing Kevin McCann said. “As a leader in providing affordable safety technology in our vehicles, Hyundai is proud to be involved for fourth year running - supporting such a worthy cause.”
