Tour De France Coverage Reaches More Viewers in 2008 - (Global)

Tour de France fever has peaked with the success of Australian Cadel Evans who wore the yellow leader’s jersey for four days.

SBS has seen a dramatic spike in viewers over the past week as Evans and a number of his compatriots have tasted success in the 2008 Tour de France. Overall viewer numbers are up a phenomenal 41 percent on 2007, with a significant spike in numbers over the past few days as Australian cyclist Simon Gerrans won his first stage and Cadel Evans continued to challenge for overall victory.

Škoda Auto is the Main Partner of the legendary Tour de France and has been the official vehicle supplier for the past five years. The new-generation Škoda Superb will be used by Tour de France Director, Christian Prudhomme, members of the organisation team and VIP guests.

In addition, the Tour de France will involve approximately 250 Škoda vehicles including Superb, Octavia and Roomster models.

Škoda Australia will continue the partnership of Australia’s premier cycling event, Tour Down Under, into 2009.
