When organisers of this year’s Australasian Safari started looking for an official vehicle supplier for the running of the 21st Safari, they were determined to select a vehicle that was rugged, yet comfortable.
Event officials – as well as the competitors – face a gruelling 3300km course over seven days, and choosing the right vehicle was an important decision.
In welcoming Jeep as the official vehicle supplier for the 2008 event, event organisers know they have vehicles that will do the required job.
Jeep will supply Jeep Cherokees and Grand Cherokees as support vehicles for the event, in what is the first time that the manufacturer has been the official vehicle supplier of an Australian rally event.
In what promises to be a rough and rugged event, Australasian Safari organisers will be thankful for the comfort of the Jeep vehicles as they cover the enormous distances of the Western Australian outback.
Event Director, Justin Hunt, is delighted to have Jeep on-board.
“In terms of a match between event and sponsor, you couldn’t want for better,” Hunt said.
The Australasian Safari gets under way with a ceremonial start in the main street of the Kalgoorlie on the afternoon of August 23. The anticipated record field will face a grueling 3300 competitive kilometres across the next seven days.
Just getting to the finish line in Perth on Saturday, August 30 will be a significant achievement. Victory in each of the three key competition categories – car, motorbike and quad bike - will rightly be savoured, and the winners revered.
