Hyundai’s New CEO Mr. Lee Takes Over from Mr. Yeo

Hyundai Motor Company Australia has announced that Mr. Edward Lee will take over as Chief Executive Officer effective immediately, succeeding Mr. Steve Yeo, who has been reassigned to a senior position at Hyundai Motor Company’s Seoul headquarters.

Mr. Lee headed Hyundai Automotive Group’s Corporate Audit Group and during his career he has worked extensively within a number of overseas operations.  There will be no transition period as both Mr. Lee’s and Mr. Yeo’s new positions take effect immediately.  Mr. Lee joins HMCA at an exciting time with the company defying the local market through its growth in the 1st four months of 2009.

“I have watched the growth of our subsidiaries around the world over the last few years and Australia has set significant benchmarks in contributing to Hyundai’s global progress,” Mr. Lee said.  “We have some exciting opportunities ahead and I am looking forward to working with our team, the Hyundai Dealers and of course our customers to see further growth and acceptance of our brand as we introduce more exciting new products.”

Mr. Lee is relocating to Australia with his family.  His enthusiasm for sports involving a ball, particularly football, will ensure continued support of the Hyundai A-League, Carlton Football Club and Hyundai Hopman Cup.
