Australian-born Stavros Yallouridis has been appointed to the position of Managing Director of BMW Group Australia, effective March 1, 2009.

He will take over from Guenther Seemann who will become the regional director for the sales region Asia, Pacific and South Africa.

Yallouridis, 48, is currently Managing Director of BMW Group Hellas, a post he has held since August 2003 when BMW Group established a national sales company in Greece.

Under his leadership, sales of BMW Group vehicles grew rapidly in Greece despite a relatively stable market. After taking over from the previous importer, BMW sales increased from 3,800 vehicles in 2003 to 8,100 last year.

During the same period, MINI brand sales grew from 530 to 1,700 units and BMW Motorrad sales climbed from 800 to 2,000 motorcycles.

Prior to his role in establishing the BMW Group national sales company in Greece, Yallouridis held various technical, sales, marketing and general management roles with Fiat Auto Hellas.

Yallouridis studied automotive mechanical engineering in Melbourne and worked in Australia for nearly a decade before continuing his career in Europe.

Yallouridis is married with three children.
