Distinctive New BMW 6 Series Individual

February 25th, 2008

BMW has created a more distinctive way to drive a luxury Grand Tourer and convertible with the introduction of an exclusive run of BMW Individual 6 Series.

Sure to make a style statement, the new BMW Individual 6 Series offers customers the choice of Brilliant White metallic or Diopside Black metallic exterior paintwork from BMW Individual, across Coupé and Convertible models.

A host of signature BMW Individual touches further accentuate the individual character of this model, including full Merino leather upholstery in Black or Platinum, contrast stitching for the seats and centre tunnel console in Silverstone or Black, Piano Black fine wood trim, 19-inch Star Spoke light-alloy wheels, illuminated BMW Individual door sills, high gloss satin chrome and BMW Individual inscribed iDrive controller.

Careful attention has been paid by designers to match the BMW Interior finishing touches with the exterior paintwork. Brilliant White vehicles are matched with black Merino leather upholstery, Silverstone contrast seat stitching and floor mats with Silverstone binding, whereas Diopside Black vehicles are matched with Platinum Merino leather upholstery, Black contrast seat stitching and floor mats with Platinum binding.

The BMW Individual 6 Series will be available for delivery in July and is limited to 30 units split evenly between Brilliant White and Diopside Black across a mix of Coupé and Convertible models.

“The BMW Individual 6 Series is a stand out way to drive the ultimate luxury Grand Tourer or convertible,” said Scott Weis, BMW National Special Vehicles Manager.

“Our 6 Series customers are very discerning and will relish the chance to own one of these extremely limited cars,” he said.

BMW Individual was established in 1991 as a division of BMW M GmbH with the goal of leading the trend towards more individuality by concentrating on customers looking for made-to-measure solutions and making tougher demands on their BMW in terms of distinction, design and function.

Applied in five-layers, BMW Individual paintwork stands apart from conventional finishes with rare, deep brilliance. The Brilliant White paintwork of the White Shadow edition features a further two paint layers and exhibits the purest white hues. It is the first pearl white offered by BMW Individual. Diopside Black combines green with elegant black to produce a three-dimensional, iridescent effect.

Equally as definitive in a BMW Individual vehicle is the Merino leather which is characterised by its refined appeal, extreme durability and comfort. Gentle tanning methods and “barrel pigmentation,” in which the dye penetrates through intensive rotation and is not just applied to the surface, give this material its richness of colour, strength and durability. Importantly, the living structure of this leather comes from its natural graining rather than artificial embossing.
Interior trim in Piano Black is a sophisticated high gloss lacquered finish. The technique is on par with the polished surface achieved by famous piano makers using a time-consuming polishing and finishing process.

Customers can also utilise the BMW Individual program to express their personality and taste on vehicles ranging from the BMW 3 Series, 5 Series, 6 Series, 7 Series, X3, X5 and Z4.
