New Audi A4 on the Runway to Launch

The all-new sporty and elegantly-designed Audi A4 sedan will be officially launched in Australia this week, with the market introduction in early May 2008.

This brand new, latest-generation vehicle will boost the profile of Audi in Australia in its segment thanks to its winning combination of stylish design, strong performance and larger, wider, more dynamic appearance. It comes with an excellent pedigree and portrays the values of the Audi brand – sporty, sophisticated and progressive – to perfection.

It is bulging with top-of-the-line features, previously found only on much higher-end models, including the intuitive MMI control system, new Audi drive select, Lane Assist, Side Assist, daytime running lights and Adaptive Cruise Control.

It is dynamic and precise to drive and boasts powerful engines with systematic reductions in fuel consumption.

The new A4 accounts for more than 40% of volume in Australia, or around 2,500 vehicles in 2008.

Driver profile
The Audi A4 customer buys a car that is sporty and attractively designed. The choice of vehicle also meets the rational requirements of the owner for features such as quality, comfort and safety. The car also represents their social status at the same time.

A ‘typical’ A4 customer is;

    • Generally aged between 35 to 52 years old
    • Mostly male (80% share)
    • Married with children
    • Has a household income of approx. $280,000
    • Is brand-orientated and brand loyal

The all new A4 sedan customer is achievement-orientated and actively takes part in societal life. They want to make a difference and work-life balance, tolerance, aesthetic rationality and a cosmopolitan world view are key characteristics. The A4 customer enjoys a high standard of living and prefers ‘the beautiful things in life’.

Consumption is based on differentiation and good taste. Brand and luxury products play a great role and they are willing to make a substantial investment in quality brand products.

Size matters
The new A4 is longer, wider and more powerful than ever.
At 4.70 m long, it has grown by 117 mm overall. Width has also increased by 55 mm to 1.82 m, whilst the front and rear tracks are now 45 mm and 36 mm wider respectively. The wheelbase is 167 mm longer and the front overhangs are shorter by 68mm, making for a sportier, more balanced overall appearance. The extra length, width and shorter wheelbase also means that the interior is distinctly larger than the previous model in every dimension.
Inside, the new car is 20 mm longer at 1758 mm, 10 mm wider at 1410 mm. The rear-seat width at shoulder height is 1380 mm, an increase of 23 mm.
The height of the car remains almost unchanged however headroom at the front and rear seats is ample. At the rear of this five-seater, even heavily built passengers will appreciate the freedom of movement that Audi has provided.

Legroom is now 908 mm, a useful 29 mm more than before and a figure worthy of a car in the large luxury class. The rear seats, with their slight individual contouring, are also notable for sporty comfort. The seat cushions are soft but the side sections slightly firmer and there is plenty of space for the occupant’s feet under the front seat.

Thanks to the length of the doors and the wide angle to which they open, the rear seats can be reached and exited in comfort.
