Volvo Car Australia will use this year's Melbourne Motor Show to gauge local market interest in a Heico Sportiv product for its Australian customers.
The Volvo stand will feature an S80 V8 AWD drawing on elements of the official S80 Heico Concept first developed by the German tuning and motorsport company for last year's Specialty Equipment Market Association tradeshow (SEMA) in Las Vegas.
Should the response be positive, the premium Swede will consider introducing a modified version of the quietly confident S80 sporting sedan followed by other models in its range.
"We're particularly excited about the prospect of showcasing the S80 V8 concept and gauging market reaction to the move," said Alan Desselss, Managing Director of Volvo Car Australia.
"Having the car in Melbourne is an opportunity to invite local feedback and to evaluate interest in a Heico product for Volvo's Australian customer base.
"The addition of a Heico offering would further enhance Volvo's current range in Australia with the added benefit of reinforcing Volvo's position as a manufacturer of highly desirable vehicles," said Mr Desselss.
Modifications to the acclaimed Volvo S80 V8 include Heico's optimised Sportiv four-pipe exhaust system which adds a throaty, muscular note to the vehicle befitting of its V8 powerplant. At each corner, exclusive Heico Volution 19" wheels mount the latest ultra-low profile Pirelli P Zero the Hero tyres, which are fitted as standard to cars of the calibre of the Aston Martin DB9 and Lamborghini's Murcielago.
Heico Sportiv was founded in Frankfurt, Germany in 1995 and in just 13 years, has grown to be Europe's leading Volvo tuning firm. Heico has the longest running history of endurance racing featuring Volvo cars, providing the engineering basis for the development of high-quality after-market sporting components for Volvo's road cars.
